Niniejsze badanie koncentruje się na kształceniu nauczycieli w kontekście edukacji na wsi w regionie Alto Vale Piranga. Jego celem było przeanalizowanie procesu kształcenia nauczycieli, zarówno formalnych, jak i nieformalnych, z perspektywy krytycznego myślenia. Aby umiejscowić całe badanie, dokonano opisu regionu, w którym znajdują się bohaterowie narracji, oraz jego znaczenia historycznego i kulturowego. Następnie omówiono w skrócie specyfikę historycznej drogi edukacji wiejskiej w Brazylii, aż do pojawienia się i ugruntowania koncepcji edukacji na obszarach wiejskich. Badanie miało na celu zrozumienie obecnej sytuacji brazylijskiego chłopstwa, konfliktu między antagonistycznymi projektami narodu i edukacji oraz nowych wyzwań związanych z krytycznym i emancypacyjnym kształceniem nauczycieli pracujących na wsi. Analiza narracji potwierdziła krytyczno-polityczną postawę nauczycieli biorących udział w badaniu, jednak wykazała również ukryte sprzeczności w dyskursie. W ten sposób stwierdzono potrzebę krytycznego myślenia i dialektyki jako podstawy teoretycznej i metodologicznej w kursach kształcenia nauczycieli, które mają na celu emancypację pracowników wiejskich.
