Badania przedstawione w niniejszej książce powstały w ramach projektu „Uprzedzenia wobec osób objętych edukacją integracyjną'. Projekt ten, finansowany przez CNPq, był realizowany w São Paulo w latach 2008-2010 w Instytucie Psychologii Uniwersytetu São Paulo (USP). Po tym okresie koledzy z innych uniwersytetów, zajmujący się edukacją i psychologią, wykorzystali go w swoich miastach, stosując krytyczną teorię społeczeństwa. Badaczami z innych uniwersytetów, którzy opracowali ten projekt, byli: z Federalnego Uniwersytetu Mato Grosso do Sul - profesorowie Branca Maria de Meneses i Dulce Regina Pedrossian; z Uniwersytetu Stanowego Bahia - profesorowie Luciene Maria Silva, Jaciete Barbosa dos Santos i Jamara Dourado; z Federalnego Uniwersytetu Pará - profesor Rosi Giordano oraz badacze Jaciane Viana Oliveira i Lana J.
