Le indagini condotte tra i giovani di diversi Paesi riportano livelli generalmente bassi di conoscenza dei fatti relativi alle questioni ambientali. Ad esempio, gli studenti confondono le idee su fenomeni come l’effetto serra e l’assottigliamento dell’ozono, o mostrano una scarsa comprensione di processi come la fusione o il riciclaggio. In mezzo a numerosi, crescenti e complessi problemi ambientali, gli studiosi ritengono che l’educazione ambientale abbia un enorme ruolo di influenza nella formazione delle conoscenze e degli atteggiamenti delle persone e sia molto pratica nel motivare a migliorare e proteggere l’ambiente. Questo lavoro ha quindi esaminato il livello di consapevolezza e l’efficacia dell’educazione ambientale tra gli studenti universitari. È stato utilizzato un questionario strutturato e autoprogettato su un campione di cento (100) studenti per raccogliere informazioni sulla loro conoscenza dell’educazione ambientale.
