Celem niniejszego badania jest przedstawienie przedstawień nastolatków i młodzieży ze szkoły państwowej Meninos do Futuro, znajdującej się w Centrum Socjalno-Edukacyjnym w Cuiabá (Kompleks Pomeri). Uczniowie znajdują się pod opieką sądową i są pozbawieni wolności. Założenia teoretyczne leżące u podstaw niniejszego badania dostarczyły narzędzi krytyczno-dyskursywnych do przeprowadzenia analizy. Dialog teoretyczno-metodologiczny, jaki realizm krytyczny (RC) prowadzi z krytyczną analizą dyskursu (ACD) i reprezentacją podmiotów społecznych, wniósł znaczący wkład w realizację niniejszego badania. Jest to badanie jakościowe o charakterze etnograficznym. Wyniki analizy wyjaśniają, poprzez prace pisemne i wywiady, znaczenie szkoły w życiu każdego z nich, zbliżenie się do nauczycieli poprzez ich praktyki i znaczące uczenie się. Szkoła okazuje się być miejscem humanizacji i emancypacji, zapewniającym warunki integracji społecznej.
