Lo studio è stato condotto per determinare la partecipazione delle donne alle attività di pesca come mezzo di sostentamento nell’area di governo locale di Doma, nello Stato di Nasarawa, in Nigeria. Un totale di sessanta (60) donne coinvolte in attività di pesca sono state selezionate attraverso la tecnica del campionamento mirato nell’area di studio. I dati primari sono stati raccolti attraverso l’uso di un questionario strutturato e un’intervista personale alle intervistate. Per l’analisi dei dati è stata utilizzata la statistica descrittiva semplice. I risultati dello studio hanno mostrato che il 33,3% degli intervistati aveva un’età produttiva attiva compresa tra i 31 e i 40 anni. La maggior parte (63,3%) degli intervistati era sposata e circa (40%) aveva un’esperienza di 6-10 anni nelle attività di pesca. I risultati hanno indicato che la maggior parte (33,35) degli intervistati era impegnata nella commercializzazione di pesce affumicato, mentre il 26,7% era coinvolto nella commercializzazione di pesce fresco. I risultati hanno inoltre rivelato che la maggior parte degli intervistati non spende nemmeno un kobo per il trasporto, la legna da ardere, la riparazione e la manutenzione, il carburante, il pesce lavorato, l’acquisto di pesce fresco, l’attrezzatura da pesca, il frigorifero, il refrigeratore, i bidoni, le ciotole e l’affitto di terreni e negozi.
