Na podstawie wywiadów z dziennikarzami pracującymi w terenie oraz dziennikarzami, którzy relacjonowali konflikt syryjski, semiotyczna analiza tych rozmów pozwoli zrozumieć, w jaki sposób dziennikarze przyswajają informacje od swoich źródeł, aby relacjonować konflikt, którego nie mogą doświadczyć na własnej skórze. W pierwszej kolejności przyjrzymy się, w jaki sposób dziennikarzom zachodnim odmawia się dostępu do terenu, następnie przeanalizujemy typologię źródeł wykorzystywanych przez redakcje francuskie, a na koniec sprawdzimy, jakie treści redakcje francuskie najchętniej wybierają spośród wszystkich dostępnych źródeł.
