Questo libro contiene una ricerca condotta su ventotto genotipi di grano duro per determinare la diversità genetica attraverso marcatori morfologici e molecolari valutati con un disegno a blocchi randomizzati con tre repliche. Sono state registrate le osservazioni relative a dieci caratteri quantitativi, ovvero: giorni alla comparsa della spiga, periodo di riempimento del chicco, giorni alla maturità, altezza della pianta (cm), numero di culmi efficaci per pianta, lunghezza della spiga (cm), numero di spighette per spiga, lunghezza del peduncolo, peso di 1000 chicchi (g) e peso dei chicchi per pianta (g). Sono stati stimati diversi parametri genetici quali diversità genetica, progresso genetico, analisi del coefficiente di percorso, ecc. Ventotto genotipi sono stati suddivisi in sette cluster in uno studio sulla divergenza genetica utilizzando marcatori SSR. Il modello di raggruppamento non ha mostrato alcuna relazione tra la distribuzione geografica e la divergenza genetica, poiché genotipi della stessa origine erano sparsi in cluster diversi e genotipi di aree diverse erano raggruppati nello stesso cluster.
