I laghi vengono utilizzati per molteplici scopi e, di conseguenza, sono quelli maggiormente sfruttati. I macroinvertebrati bentonici sono i migliori indicatori per la biovalutazione. L’ambiente abiotico del corpo idrico influisce direttamente sulla distribuzione, sulla densità di popolazione e sulla diversità della comunità macrobentonica. La fauna bentonica riveste particolare importanza per la pesca, in quanto costituisce essa stessa il cibo dei pesci che si nutrono sul fondo. Il presente progetto si occupa della storia naturale di alcune di queste specie acquatiche, fornendo spunti per comprendere il ruolo dei macroinvertebrati bentonici nella valutazione dello stato della qualità dell’acqua e nella salute dell’ecosistema acquatico.
