We are always inquisitive about the existence of gods. Somapala Dematapitiya’s ’Discovery of Gods Unseen’ provides uswith food for thought in this regard. It deals with this issue, setting the contents in a clear perspective, that appeals to thereader substantially. The methodology used in collecting materials for this treatise is twofold ; (i) as research work and (ii) as revelations by Gods through a divine screen known as 'Anduna' a devise of divination. This aspect of the methodology is the mostdistinct characteristic of this book. Due to some unavoidable constrains, the author has been compelled to select only seven Gods and Deities from thedistinguished pantheon to be disclosed by this volume, allocating a chapter each to Viz. Bodhisathwa Maithra, God SriVishnu, God Katharagama, God Dedimunda of Aluthnuwara, God Sumana Saman, Demi-god Siddha Suniyam andGoddess Patini. The somewhat occult birth stories of these Gods and Deities are very interesting and fascinating, but the facts expoundedtherein, are profound in every respect. We can gain new vivid and enthralling information from the subject matter as well asthe anecdotes, incidents and situations lucidly discussed on many a page in this volume. Viz, As to who these Gods are, their classification, abodes, nature and powers and geographical location of heavenly abodes, activation of the divine screenand divination along with dialogues with Gods and astral beings; rituals in nullifying spells (hoodoos); God’s benevolenceand divine punishments, together with the divine medicine 'Rajamanthri' and other divine prescriptions including those forAIDS. Above topics have been discussed in depth with entailing stories frequently. Another noteworthy aspect of this book is that it is a unique piece of literature which shows the author’s creativeness and praiseworthy diction providing the reader with greater insight and fascination.
