A traça-das-tâmaras Ectomeylois ceratoniae é uma das pragas mais nocivas da produção de tâmaras na Argélia. A natureza polífaga deste inseto e a sua ampla distribuição espacial numa variedade de hospedeiros dificultam o desenvolvimento de uma estratégia de controlo eficaz. A dinâmica populacional da traça foi estudada num palmeiral biológico da região de Sidi Khaled (Biskra, Argélia), constituído por palmeiras jovens e velhas. Foram estudadas as capturas comparativas por armadilhas com feromonas e as alterações da infestação ao longo do tempo em três cultivares, Deglet Nour, Mech Degla e Degla Beidha, durante o período de maturação das tâmaras, de outubro a fevereiro. A variedade Deglet Nour é a mais atacada. Em relação à fenologia das palmeiras, as capturas e infestações foram mais elevadas no palmeiral jovem, reflectindo a presença de 3 gerações da traça.
