Die von H. BREDDIN (1956a) veröffentlichten Methoden zur Berechnung des Aus­ maßes der tektonischen Gesteinsdeformation mit Hilfe von verformten Fossilien wurden bisher fast ausschließlich auf tierische Fossilien angewendet. Da jedoch im Niederrheinisch-Westfälischen Steinkohlenrevier für diesen Zweck tierische Fossilien (Cephalopoden, Zweischaler und Brachiopoden) nur in wenigen marinen Horizonten zur Verfügung stehen, soll in dieser Arbeit untersucht werden, in­ wieweit sich die vorerwähnten Berechnungsmethoden auch auf geeignete pflanz­ liche Fossilien übertragen lassen und gegebenenfalls ergänzt werden können. Herrn Prof. Dr. H. BREDDIN’ danken wir für seine wertvollen und vielseitigen Anregungen.
