Politische Merkmale der Epoche Die politische Situation der Weimarer Zeit ist in Deutschland wesentlich geprägt durch das Bemühen, nach Ende der Monarchie und verlorenem Weltkrieg einen demokratischen und parlamentarischen Neuanfang zu finden. Allein die Tatsache, dass das Parlament nach Weimar ausweichen muss, um den politischen Unruhen und Wirrnissen in Berlin zu entgehen, macht die Gefährdung des neuen politischen Systems deutlich. Zwischen links- und rechtsextremen Strömungen versucht eine Vielzahl von Parteien und Gruppen, politisch Einfluss zu nehmen und an der Macht teilzuhaben. In der Arbeiterschicht findet eine starke Identifizierung mit dem politischen System der Republik statt. Obwohl lediglich durch die Wahlen Einfluss auf die politischen Entwicklungen genommen werden kann, drückt sich eine positive „Staatsgesinnung' in der politisch organisierten Arbeiterschaft aus. Durch die in der Verfassung repräsentierten Freiheitsrechte werden Chancen gesehen, „von der formalen zur sozialen Demokratie fortzuschreiten' .
