Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 1997 im Fachbereich Geschichte Europa - and. Länder - Neuzeit, Absolutismus, Industrialisierung, Note: Gut, Universität Wien (Geschichte), Veranstaltung: Proseminar Neuzeit, Frankreich im 16. und 17. Jh., Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In dieser Proseminararbeit, die sich mit dem Thema die Hofgesellschaft Ludwigs XIV. befaßt, habe ich versucht anhand der Memoiren des Herzogs von Saint-Simon mir ein Bild über diese Gesellschaft zu machen. Hauptsächlich habe ich mit deutschen Übersetzungen der Memoiren gearbeitet, v. a. mit der Übersetzung von Norbert Schweigert, da sie meiner Meinung nach, nachdem ich einige Auszüge mit der französischen Originaledition von 1791 verglichen habe, die beste Übersetzung darstellen. Weiters habe ich mir die französische Ausgabe von 1791 auf Kapiteleinteilung durchgesehen, um ein Bild darüber zu bekommen, in welchem Verhältnis die Beschreibungen des Hofes Ludwigs XIV. zu den gesamten Memoiren stehen, da die deutschen Übersetzungen nur Auszüge der Memoiren, die die Regierungszeit Ludwigs XIV. beschreiben, bieten. Weiters habe ich versucht die Beschreibungen Saint-Simons im Kontext der damaligen Zeit zu sehen und die Memoiren kritisch als Quelle zu betrachten.
