Länder - Mittelalter, Frühe Neuzeit, Note: 1,7, FernUniversität Hagen, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: 1 Einleitung Mit circa 40.000 Einwohnern und seinen weitreichenden Handelsbeziehungen stellt das spätmittelalterliche Köln eine der bedeutendsten und größten deutschen Städte der damaligen Zeit dar. Viele berühmte Bauwerke zieren diese Stadt am Rhein, wie die eindrucksvollen Kirchenbauten, insbesondere der Kölner Dom, das Tanzhaus Gürzenich, das Overstolzenhaus oder die Häuser der Kölner Gaffeln und Ämter. Eine weitere Besonderheit dieser vielseitigen und multikulturellen Stadt war es, dass auch Frauen an Handwerk und Handel auf vielerlei Weise beteiligt waren und mehr Rechte und Freiheiten besaßen als in anderen deutschen Städten des Spätmittelalters. Zudem gab es in Köln Zünfte, in welchen fast ausschließlich Frauen arbeiteten. Dies war im europäischen Spätmittelalter ein außergewöhnlicher Umstand, da sogenannte Frauenzünfte nur noch für Paris und Zürich bezeugt sind. In dieser Arbeit möchte ich daher speziell auf die Kölner Frauenzünfte der Garnmacherinnen, Goldspinnerinnen und des Seidengewerbes eingehen. Doch im ersten Kapitel werde ich zunächst eine Skizze Kölns im Spätmittelalter erstellen, um daraufhin einen kurzen Einblick in die Stellung der Frauen in dieser Stadt geben zu können. Dabei wird der Schwerpunkt vor allem auf die rechtliche und soziale Situation der Frauen in Handel und Handwerk gelegt. Daraufhin folgt das Kapitel, in welchem ich näher auf die Frauenzünfte und die rechtliche, soziale und wirtschaftliche Lage der Zunftgenossinnen eingehen werde. Im Anschluss darauf erfolgt das Fazit.
