Einleitung Die Union von Brest 1596 versucht ein Bindeglied zwischen den immer weiter auseinanderdriften-den Glaubensrichtungen des Katholizismus und der Orthodoxie in der Ukraine zu schaffen. Das Ergebnis ist ein Zusammenschluss beider Kirchen gewesen - die unierte Kirche. Die vorliegende Arbeit will anhand der 33 Artikel der Bulle von 1595 versuchen, die Forderungen der Orthodoxie im Hinblick auf eine Einigung mit der katholischen Kirche aufzuzeigen und wie die orthodoxe Kirche versucht, trotz einer bevorstehenden Unierung, ihre Glaubens - und Traditionsin-halte zu schützen. Hierbei gilt es zuerst die beiden genannten Glaubensrichtungen in ihren Grundzügen darzustellen, um eine Basis für die Arbeit an und mit der Quelle zu geben. Anschließend werden knapp die Vo-raussetzungen der Brester Union genannt, um anknüpfend die 33 Artikel in einer Auswahl darzu-stellen. Die Forderungen sollen genannt und in Bezug zur gestellten Leitfrage hin ausgewertet werden. Abschließend wird der erarbeitete Untersuchungsstand zusammengefasst. Zudem sollen weitere Fragen genannt werden, die sich während der Beschäftigung des Themas für weitere Über-legungen, die aber über die Leitfrage hinausgehen, ergeben haben.
