Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Geschichte Europas - Mittelalter, Frühe Neuzeit, Note: 2,3, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (Historisches Seminar), Veranstaltung: Die englischen Könige im Mittelalter, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Das Königtum in England im Mittelalter erweist sich als interessanter Untersuchungsgegenstand, da sich auf den Britischen Inseln das Verhältnis zwischen dem Königtum und der Stellung der Kirche deutlich von den Verhältnissen auf dem Kontinent unterschieden. Während sich auf dem Kontinent durch den Investiturstreit allmählich die Machtaufteilung zwischen weltlicher und klerikaler Herrscher zu regeln versuchte, galt in England noch die traditionelle Stellung des Königs über der Kirche. In einem solchen Staatsverhältnis ist es besonders lohnenswert zu betrachten, wie dann ein solch mächtiger Regent zu stilisieren versucht wurde und welche Eigenschaften einem Idealbild zugesprochen wurden. Anhand der wechselnden herrschenden Dynastien in England haben sich verschiedene Idealtypisierungen ergeben und ich möchte in dieser Arbeit darlegen, inwiefern Heinrich II. diesem Idealtypus entsprach. Dabei werde ich auch auf die mir wichtig erscheinenden königlichen Vorgänger zu sprechen kommen und versuchen ein Idealbild nachzuzeichnen.
