Die bedeutendste Zäsur für deneuropäischen Kontinent im 18. Jh. sind wohl die Französische Revolution und Napoleongewesen, da es zu dieser Zeit zu einem Umbruch für die menschliche Gesellschaft kam. Aberauch regional- historische Ereignisse können zur Zäsur für betroffene Regionen und Länderwerden.Polen und Sachsen sind ein Teil Europas und auch schon lange Nachbarn, auch wenn eszeitweise keine territoriale Verbindung zueinander gab. Aber wie Hausnachbarn sichverstehen bzw. bekriegen oder gar verbünden können, so verlief auch die Koexistenz vonPolen und Sachsen in all den Jahrhunderte. Bedeutungsvolle Jahre für das Miteinander derNachbarn war die Zeit der sächsisch- polnischen Union von 1697 bis 1763. Dieser Punkt inder Geschichte kann als Zäsur für die polnische und sächsische Bevölkerung gewertet werden.Beide Gruppierungen wurden im Verlauf mehr oder weniger assimiliert. Positive Faktoren derVerbindung sind in Politik, Handel und in der Wirtschaft auszumachen gewesen. Auch wennwährend der ersten Jahre der Union, im Historiker- Spiegel, die Negativität über dieVerbindung überwiegt, so ist doch die auszumachende positive Tendenz in der Nachwirkungnicht zu übersehen. Dafür spricht die Verfassung Polens von 1791 und das Angebot derKönigskrone an den Nachfolger Augusts des Starken, seinen Sohn, Friedrich August III.
