Aus über 500 Registrierungen des Doppler-Effektes im 20 MHz-Signal des Satelliten 1958 6 wurden seine Bahnelemente und ihre zeitlichen Ände­ 2 rungen für die ersten zwei Monate der Lebenszeit des Satelliten abge­ leitet. Die Messungen stammen aus der Zeit vom Start des Satelliten (15. Mai) bis zum 20. Juli von neun über die Bundesrepublik verteilten Meßstationen. Obwohl die Verhältnisse für Radiobeobachtungen ungünstig waren, zeigte es sich, daß vor allem der zeitliche Verlauf der Bahn durch regelmäßige Messungen dieser Art sehr gut verfolgt werden kann. Für die Bestimmung der räumlichen Lage der Bahn sind gute optische Beobachtungen zu bevor­ zugen, die allerdings bei den meisten Satelliten nur an sehr wenigen Tagen möglich sind. Eine kombinierte Auswertung von Radiobeobachtungen und optischen Beobachtungen wäre wohl das zweckmäßigste Verfahren. Die Abnahme der Umlaufszeit des Satelliten verringerte sich während der ersten 550 Umläufe von ca. 1 secld auf ca. 0.6 sec/d. Eine sichere Erklärung für diese abnormale Erscheinung kann noch nicht gegeben werden. Die errechneten Bahnelemente sind am Schluß der Arbeit zusammengestellt. Ferner sind in einer Ephemeridentabelle Zeit und geographische Länge der aufsteigenden Äquatordurchgänge gegeben.
