Tyrann oder Volkstribun?, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Seit Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts zur dauerhaften Marke des Donau-Karpatenraumes und Lieblingsfigur der westlichen Vampirmythologen avanciert, wird der historische Vlad Ţepeş als eine der umstrittensten Figuren in der Geschichtsschreibung gehandelt. Das liegt nicht zuletzt daran, dass seine Personalität und Taten größtenteils in mediatisierter Gestalt überliefert sind. Diese Darstellungen strukturieren Draculas Reputation in der Vergangenheit und haben noch Jahrhunderte danach Einfluss auf sein Image der Gegenwart. In ihren Ursprüngen vermutlich als Teil einer zeitgenössischen Rufmordkampagne gegen Vlad den Pfähler gedacht, bedingen so vor allem Schauererzählungen sein Vermächtnis in der Erinnerungskultur außerhalb Rumäniens. Ob tapferer Armeeführer oder blutrünstiger Strafgeber und despotischer Wüterich: betreffend der Figur Vlad Ţepeş wurzelt jegliches Faktum zwischen reiner Fiktion und der historischen Wahrheit. Die vorliegende Arbeit fokussiert die Konflikte zwischen Dracula und Kronstadt in seiner zweiten und längsten Regierungszeit. In Strafaktionen soll er das südliche Burzenland verwüstet und Kronstadt/Brașov belagert haben. Fragestellung und Ziel ist es, die entsprechenden Umstände zu beleuchten und die These zu stützen, nach welcher die Übergriffe auf Kronstadt historisch als eine innenpolitische Strategie und Bestrafung des Adels einzuordnen sind. Für einen Einblick in die innenpolitischen Verhältnisse Mitte des 15. Jahrhunderts soll zunächst das Verhältnis von Vlad Ţepeş zu den siebenbürgisch-sächsischen Kaufleuten und die Beziehung zu den walachischen Emigranten im Burzenland thematisiert werden.
