De Pleiters is een komedie geschreven door de Franse toneelschrijver Jean Racine in 1695. Het stuk speelt zich af in het Parijse gerechtshof en volgt de intriges van verschillende advocaten die strijden om de gunst van een rijke cli�����nt. Het verhaal draait om de rivaliteit tussen twee advocaten, Dorante en Lelio, die beiden azen op de zaak van de rijke weduwe Clarice. Dorante is een ervaren en gerespecteerde advocaat, terwijl Lelio een jonge en ambitieuze advocaat is die vastbesloten is om zijn rivaal te verslaan. De weduwe Clarice is echter niet zo eenvoudig te overtuigen en de advocaten moeten hun uiterste best doen om haar zaak te winnen. De Pleiters is een satirische komedie die de corruptie en hebzucht van de Franse aristocratie aan de kaak stelt.
