El evolucionismo darwinista, no sólo es uno de los paradigmas del moderno saber biológico, sino también ha significado un cambio en las concepciones del hombre y del mundo que, desde el siglo XIX, pretenden basarse en la ciencia. Por ello, el impacto que tuvo y que continúa teniendo la recepción de la obra de Darwin sobrepasa los límites del mundo académico para convertirse en un tema de debate público. Este libro reúne diversas contribuciones de Thomas F. Glick a la difusión de las ideas evolucionistas en la sociedad española, que van desde la primera recepción de las tesis darwinistas a finales del siglo XIX hasta la evocación de las relaciones entre eminentes paleontólogos como Miquel Crusafont y George G. Simpson, pasando por el homenaje universitario de Valencia de 1909 y la repercusión del famoso juicio de Dayton en la prensa española de los años veinte.
