Rodzina Compositae (Asteraceae) obejmuje największą liczbę opisanych i uznanych gatunków spośród rodzin roślin okrytozalążkowych. Jednonasienne, suche, niewysychające owoce z tej rodziny są powszechnie znane jako niełupki lub cypsela, zwieńczone zmodyfikowanym kielichem lub pappusem. Przedstawiono tutaj badania nad morfologią i anatomią cypseli gatunków należących do 3 plemion rodziny Compositae. Jako parametry taksonomiczne uwzględniono cechy morfologiczne, takie jak rozmiar, kształt, kolor, włoski powierzchniowe i okrywy. Spośród cech anatomicznych, takich jak kształt cypselarii w przekroju poprzecznym lub T.S., grubość owocni, ślad naczyniowy, cechy jąder, cechy bielma, obecność lub brak kryształów owocni są traktowane jako istotne taksonomicznie parametry przy użyciu obserwacji pod mikroskopem świetlnym. Mikrostruktury powierzchniowe cypseli zostały zaobserwowane za pomocą skaningowego mikroskopu elektronowego.Z tego badania wynika, że cechy karpologiczne, wraz z innymi konwencjonalnymi parametrami taksonomicznymi, mogą być wykorzystane do lepszego zrozumienia klasyfikacji taksonów i wskazania ich wzajemnych powiązań w obrębie rodziny Compositae.
