Desde meados do século XX, economistas e decisores económicos têm procurado formas e meios de combater a pobreza nos países em desenvolvimento. Entre as estratégias adotadas, os especialistas aconselham as nações a aumentar o volume e o valor das suas exportações; uma estratégia que teve sucesso em alguns países, mas que levou outros à formação de um dualismo que justapõe duas classes, uma com rendimentos muito superiores à outra. No Ruanda, as exportações agrícolas são tradicionalmente constituídas por três produtos agrícolas: chá, café e piretro, culturas exploradas há mais de três décadas. O chá é uma das culturas que ocupa uma boa parte da população e uma parte importante dos melhores solos nas diferentes regiões do país. O presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar a distribuição das receitas provenientes das exportações de chá e o seu impacto nas condições de vida da população envolvida neste setor no antigo distrito de MUDASOMWA.
