L’apathie des élèves est un problème croissant aux États-Unis. Cette étude de cas qualitative, fondée sur les principes des théories de l’apprentissage social et du développement cognitif de Vygotsky et Piaget, explore l’apathie des élèves et l’environnement d’apprentissage à travers les expériences d’anciens élèves et de leurs parents. Les résultats de l’étude ont conduit à la création d’un plan de développement professionnel complet qui combine les pratiques de l’état d’esprit de croissance avec l’enseignement différencié pour amener les enseignants à créer une culture de l’engagement dans leur classe et dans l’ensemble de l’école.
