Actualmente, la mayoría de los cuerpos de agua superficiales y subterráneos de México presenta algún grado de contaminación, como consecuencia de la mala gestión y manejo del recurso hídrico. Esto conlleva la formación de diferentes riesgos para las poblaciones humanas y el ambiente. Por lo tanto, es importante realizar evaluaciones para la toma adecuada de decisiones, garantizar la protección y conservación de los ecosistemas dulceacuícolas, así como la seguridad de la salud humana.Para este estudio se realizó una evaluación del riesgo ambiental (ERA), en la comunidad hñähñú 'El Alberto', en el Estado de Hidalgo, para estimar la relación que han tenido las descargas de aguas negras e industriales en el río Tula sobre los sistemas acuáticos, organismos y la población dentro de la región.
