Die computergestützte Pathologie ist ein aufstrebendes Fachgebiet, das digitale Pathologie, künstliche Intelligenz (KI), maschinelles Lernen (ML) und Bildanalysetechniken miteinander verbindet, um die Diagnose, Einstufung, Risikobewertung und Behandlung potenziell maligner oraler Erkrankungen (OPMDs) zu verbessern. OPMDs, darunter orale Leukoplakie, orale Erythroplakie, orale submuköse Fibrose und oraler Lichen planus, weisen ein unterschiedliches Risiko einer malignen Transformation in ein orales Plattenepithelkarzinom (OSCC) auf. Die genaue Vorhersage dieser Transformation stellt in der konventionellen Histopathologie aufgrund von Interobserver-Variabilität und subjektiver Interpretation nach wie vor eine erhebliche Herausforderung dar. Die computergestützte Pathologie stellt einen bahnbrechenden Ansatz bei der Beurteilung von OPMDs dar. Durch die Bereitstellung objektiver, quantitativer und reproduzierbarer Analysen hat sie das Potenzial, die diagnostische Genauigkeit zu verbessern, die maligne Transformation effektiver vorherzusagen und eine personalisierte Patientenversorgung zu ermöglichen, was letztlich zu besseren Ergebnissen bei der Prävention und Früherkennung von Mundkrebs beiträgt.
