Le thème de cet ouvrage est celui des compétences de lecture des poèmes. Les problèmes qui ont motivé la recherche et la rédaction de ce livre sont les suivants : la prise de conscience que, pour de nombreux enseignants, développer des pratiques didactiques dans lesquelles les compétences de lecture du genre poétique sont envisagées est un défi ; l’observation que les élèves ne montrent aucun intérêt pour la lecture de poèmes, malgré la valeur de ce genre discursif pour la formation des lecteurs ; les doutes sur la façon de préparer les élèves à des évaluations externes telles que Prova Brasil, l’ENEM et le SARESP. L’objectif général de cette recherche est d’offrir une contribution à d’autres éducateurs qui découvrent ce travail de transposition didactique d’activités axées sur les compétences de lecture de poèmes et la réflexion sur les résultats dans la classe où il a été développé. Le fondement théorique de cette recherche repose sur la perspective sociocognitive de la lecture, sur la conception bakhtinienne du langage et des genres discursifs et sur les aspects constitutifs du genre discursif poème.
