AI programmer Jim Davis blindly joins a project whose vision it to create one man’s idea of the perfect companion. State of the art hardware, and software driven by Artificial Intelligence are combined to produce 'perfect' companions for his friends who, for various reasons, cannot find their 'soul mate'. Jim becomes involved with the 'power' expert on the project and they eventually find the relationship the project’s customers are seeking. Successes and some failures become learnings for a series of projects as the scope of the effort seems to expand with each new project. Their successes are closely followed by several government agencies that have identified other uses for their companions besides giving comfort and companionship.
