In the spring of 1939, as whispers of an impending war with Japan spread through Washington, D.C., a covert mission is launched on a remote, uninhabited island in the Philippines. American, military, construction workers and Navy Intelligence officers are tasked with building a secret airstrip, but their mission takes a mysterious turn when they discover unusual electron surges emanating from the island’s volcanic lava tubes. As they delve deeper into the island’s hidden caverns, they uncover crystal spikes generating continuous, inexplicable energy. Under the guidance of Vice Admiral Philip Collins, the discovery leads to the involvement of Astrobiologists Professors Hiram Bigalow and Augustus Franco who spend the next year investigating the phenomenon. As World War II intensifies in the Pacific, communications from the secret island laboratory suddenly cease leaving behind only the cryptic message: 'Cold Blue.' Fast forward to June 1943, when Lt. Nathan Miller, a Navy pilot, crashes on a small jungle island during a fierce lightning storm. Unbeknownst to him, his life is about to be entwined with the island’s dark secrets leading to a macabre twist in his fate. Meanwhile, back in the United States, rumors swirl about a top-secret, Navy experiment in Philadelphia involving teleportation and invisibility known as 'The Philadelphia Experiment.' At the center of these rumors are the same professors, Professor Bigalow and Franco, who uncovered the island’s mysterious energy source. As the truth unravels, it becomes clear that the events on the island and the experiments in Philadelphia are part of a much larger, more sinister puzzle threatening to change the course of history.

Freeman was then trying to design a space ship — the Orion — which would be propelled by atomic bo...
