Questo studio ha dimostrato con successo l’applicazione del DNA genomico ottenuto di buona qualità, controllato mediante l’analisi qualitativa dell’elettroforesi su gel e l’analisi quantitativa del nanodrop. Utilizzando la tecnica della PCR, il gene COI mitocondriale è stato amplificato e sequenziato con successo da Spodoptera frugiperda in una pianta di sorgo. Le sequenze ottenute erano lunghe 650-700 bp. L’analisi filogenetica delle sequenze ottenute, utilizzando l’albero filogenetico, ha evidenziato le relazioni evolutive tra le popolazioni di Spodoptera frugiperda, distinguendola da altre specie strettamente correlate. Lo studio del DNA barcoding evidenzia l’importanza di un’identificazione accurata, dello studio della protezione delle colture, del controllo biologico e dell’agricoltura di precisione di S. frugiperda. I risultati di questo studio possono essere utilizzati per sviluppare strategie efficaci di gestione dei parassiti per controllare le popolazioni di Spodoptera frugiperda.
