Die Chrombelastung in Lebensmitteln, Böden und Gewässern ist aufgrund ihrer toxischen Eigenschaften und ihres Potenzials, beim Menschen Krankheiten zu verursachen, von großer Bedeutung. Diese Studie legte daher den Grundstein für die Lösung des Problems und entwickelte einen Lösungsansatz und einen Mechanismus, um eine weitere Kontamination zu verhindern. Um den Grad der Chrombelastung in Wasser, Böden, Obst und Gemüse zu bewerten, wurden sieben Proben verschiedener Obst- und Gemüsesorten, Böden und Gewässer aus einem Industrieland eines Entwicklungslandes entnommen. Die ermittelte Chromkonzentration in Gemüse, Boden und Wasser zeigte, dass diese eine erhebliche Gesundheitsgefahr für die Menschen darstellen. Andererseits lagen die Konzentrationen aller Kontrollproben (Proben, die außerhalb der Industriegebiete zum Vergleich der Ergebnisse entnommen wurden) innerhalb der vom Codex festgelegten Grenzwerte. Diese Arbeit ist für Umweltwissenschaftler, Umweltchemiker und Umwelttoxikologen von Interesse.
