Esta obra es un completo inventario de la flora vascular de las sierras de Gúdar y Javalambre (Sistema Ibérico meridional, Teruel, España). En ella se comentan más de 2000 taxones de plantas vasculares de los que 1710 se consideran como propios de de la flora actual más 214 híbridos. A estas cifras debemos añadir las plantas cultivadas así como otras de presencia dudosa.Este trabajo tiene su antecedente en la obra de los profesores Salvador Rivas Goday y José Borja Carbonell en su 'Estudio sobre la vegetación y flórula del macizo de Gúdar y Javalambre' (1961), donde se citan 1200 especies. En estos cincuenta años han tenido lugar más avances en el conocimiento de la flora ibérica que en todos los anteriores desde el inicio de la Botánica moderna y que nosotros recogemos en este libro.
