In hoc volumine, historiae Romanorum a tempore Nervae usque ad Antoninum Pium describuntur. Cassius Dio, auctor huius operis, fuit senator Romanus et consul in anno 220 post Christum natum. Historiae Romanae sunt una ex principaliis fontibus historiographicis de historia Romae.
