L’uso dell’irrigazione è importante per la redditività dello sfruttamento commerciale della coltura del fagiolo, soprattutto nella regione semiarida del Nord-Est, a causa dell’irregolarità delle precipitazioni. Tuttavia, una gestione inadeguata dell’irrigazione ha portato alla salinizzazione del suolo, causando una riduzione delle caratteristiche morfologiche delle colture in generale. In quest’ottica, si è voluto valutare gli effetti di diversi livelli di salinità dell’acqua di irrigazione sul comportamento morfologico di due cultivar di cowpea. L’esperimento è stato condotto in vasi all’aperto nell’area sperimentale della Stazione Agrometereologica dell’Università Federale del Ceará, Fortaleza, Ceará. È stato utilizzato un disegno a blocchi randomizzati split-plot, in cui i livelli di salinità erano distribuiti nelle parcelle e le cultivar nelle sottoparcelle.
