RACCOMANDAZIONI Agli allevatori di pollame: per evitare la diluizione genetica e l’erosione delle risorse genetiche locali dei polli, si raccomanda di effettuare un’ulteriore caratterizzazione dell’ecotipo Kuchi (fenotipica e molecolare), attraverso la selezione all’interno e tra gli ecotipi, al fine di utilizzare e conservare questi genomi indigeni in modo sostenibile. Ai responsabili politici: Si raccomanda che il dipartimento di riferimento del Ministero dell’Agricoltura, dell’Allevamento e della Pesca collabori con gli zoologi interessati alla ricerca sul pollo indigeno, in particolare il Kuchi, ai fini della brevettazione, della conservazione (banca genetica) e della produzione, poiché questo ecotipo ha il potenziale per essere sfruttato per il miglioramento delle condizioni di vita rurali, non solo in Kenya ma anche in altri paesi tropicali in via di sviluppo; e, Agli agricoltori: Sulla base dei risultati di questo studio, il ricercatore raccomanda agli allevatori di selezionare e incrociare ecotipi che presentino un elevato aumento di peso corporeo e colori del piumaggio non attraenti per i predatori. L’ecotipo Kuchi IC soddisfa tutti questi requisiti, quindi il ricercatore lo raccomanda vivamente agli allevatori.
