A identificação de membros do género Trametes até ao nível de espécie ainda não foi estabelecida, principalmente devido ao problema da separação das espécies com base em características morfológicas. No presente estudo, foram analisados dados sequenciados gerados a partir de 26 espécies de Trametes recolhidas na Nigéria e designadas VO1 a VO26, a fim de identificar os espécimes ao nível das espécies. O objetivo da investigação é realizar um estudo molecular sobre espécies de Trametes recolhidas na Nigéria utilizando dados do marcador ribossómico (ITS) e genes codificadores de proteínas (RPB1, RPB2, TEF1) e examinar e discutir as implicações taxonómicas e nomenclaturais dos resultados.
