Berg, Myrtaceae, im Volksmund als Cambuí bekannt, hat eine natürliche Verbreitung in Gebieten mit sandigen Restingas an der Südküste von Alagoas, hauptsächlich in den Gemeinden Piaçabuçu und Penedo. Es handelt sich um einen einheimischen Obstbaum mit potenziellem wirtschaftlichem Wert, dessen Früchte sowohl frisch als auch verarbeitet sehr geschätzt werden. Die Pflanze wird als Heil- und Zierpflanze und in städtischen Aufforstungsprojekten verwendet. Aufgrund der ungeordneten städtischen und landwirtschaftlichen Nutzung ist die Art in Alagoas jedoch stark vom Aussterben bedroht, so dass Studien zur Erhaltung ihrer genetischen Vielfalt in diesem Bundesstaat erforderlich sind.
