I gusci di palma da olio (OPS) sono una risorsa rinnovabile ottenuta dai prodotti solidi agricoli finali dopo l’estrazione dell’olio di palma. È stato condotto uno studio sulla preparazione di un calcestruzzo leggero (LWC) con e senza aggregato OPS trattato termicamente. La fibra di polipropilene ritorta ad alte prestazioni (PPTBF) è stata incorporata in questo OPSC in diverse frazioni di volume (Vf) (0, 0,25, 0,5, 0,75 e 1%). Le prestazioni di OPSC con e senza miscele di calcestruzzo fibrorinforzato OPS trattato termicamente (OPSFRC) sono state valutate conducendo una serie di test completi. Sono state descritte le proprietà fresche e meccaniche di queste miscele di calcestruzzo, come slump, Vebe, densità, resistenza alla compressione, resistenza alla trazione, modulo di elasticità (E) e comportamento sforzo-deformazione. Sono state eseguite prove di penetrazione rapida del cloruro (RCPT), misurazione della porosità, assorbimento d’acqua e ritiro per essiccamento, al fine di evidenziare gli effetti dell’OPSFRC trattato termicamente sulla durabilità. L’uso del PPTBF ha portato a una riduzione della permeabilità, della porosità capillare e dell’assorbimento d’acqua per effetto di blocco dei pori. Si è inoltre concluso che la quantità ottimale di PPTBF è pari allo 0,5% Vf.
