Die nördliche Savannenzone ist besonders für den Ackerbau und die Viehzucht bekannt. Im Distrikt Wa West der Upper West Region sind etwa 59,2 % der Menschen in der Landwirtschaft tätig, die ihre Haupteinnahmequelle darstellt. Aufgrund von Buschfeuern in diesem Gebiet ist diese grundlegende Lebensgrundlage der Menschen ernsthaft bedroht, da das Land schnell verfällt und die Menschen sanft in die Armut stürzt. Die Studie untersucht die Auswirkungen von Buschbränden auf die Nahrungsmittelproduktion im Distrikt Wa West. Ferner werden die Ursachen von Buschbränden, die Auswirkungen von Buschbränden und Maßnahmen zur Verhinderung von Buschbränden untersucht.
