Research evidence suggests that the adoption of learner-centered strategy based on the structure and function of the brain can improve learners’ academic performance. Also, there is a need to take cognizance of the fact that, if classrooms are to be places of learning, then the 'organ of learning, the brain' must be understood and accommodated. However, there is a paucity of research on the functioning of the brain, as regards Mathematics teaching (and other subjects), particularly in Nigeria.
