Der globale Klimawandel hat vielfältige negative Auswirkungen auf unseren Planeten Erde. Eine der größten Auswirkungen ist dabei der Blitz. Die Zahl der Blitzereignisse nimmt weltweit in alarmierendem Maße zu, insbesondere in der Region Vidarbha im indischen Bundesstaat Maharashtra. Vor diesem Hintergrund versucht dieses Buch, die Blitzereignisse auf indischer Ebene, auf Ebene des Bundesstaates Maharashtra und auf Ebene der Region Vidarbha zu untersuchen. Darüber hinaus wurde eine Blitzanalyse für die letzten 40 Jahre durchgeführt, um die Anzahl der Ereignisse sowie die dadurch verursachten Verluste an Menschen- und Tierleben zu ermitteln. Die wissenschaftlichen Grundlagen des Blitzes werden erläutert. Die vorgeschlagenen Präventionsmaßnahmen zielen darauf ab, Blitze zu vermeiden und den Einzelnen vor Blitzen zu schützen.
