Gefriergetrocknete Extrakte aus Ackerbohnen-Tannin und Sojabohnen-Saponin verhinderten bei Ratten eine durch CCl₄ verursachte chronische Leberschädigung. Zudem verbesserten die Extrakte die Kollagenablagerung und in geringem Maße die Regeneration der Leberzellen. Wir vermuten, dass diese Extrakte das Auftreten von durch CCl₄ induzierter Leberfibrose bei Ratten unterdrücken und deren Ausmaß verringern können. Der Wirkmechanismus und die aktiven Bestandteile dieser Extrakte müssen jedoch noch weiter untersucht werden.
