Le béton autoplaçant est un béton dont le compactage ne nécessite pas de vibration. En raison de ses propriétés d’écoulement, le béton est considéré comme très facile à travailler. Un béton autoplaçant bien conçu doit avoir une fluidité élevée, une forte résistance à la ségrégation et une capacité de passage suffisante pour s’écouler à travers et à proximité des armatures sans interception ni ségrégation. Pour produire des bétons autoplaçants, autonivelants et fluides, l’utilisation de superplastifiants est obligatoire. Le coût élevé est l’un des inconvénients des bétons autoplaçants, en raison de l’utilisation d’énormes volumes de ciment portland et d’adjuvants chimiques.
