Durante 1978, o cientista francês Joseph Davidovits inventou o Geopolímero através do processo de geopolimerização, uma química verde. Pesquisas recentes e futuras na tecnologia de geopolímeros irão revolucionar a indústria da construção e forçar uma nova era de materiais de construção ecológicos através da substituição do OPC pelo GPC. Este livro é uma tentativa de compreender em detalhe o betão geopolímero à base de cinzas volantes e escórias, incluindo estudos experimentais extensivos sobre o efeito de vários parâmetros, nomeadamente a proporção de silicato de sódio para solução de hidróxido de sódio, adição de água, período de repouso, temperaturas de cura, tempo de cura, diferentes métodos de cura e adição de superplastificantes ao betão geopolímero à base de cinzas volantes e escórias. A parte final deste livro descreve o efeito da adição de cinzas volantes e escória nas propriedades mecânicas do concreto geopolímero, como resistência à compressão, resistência à tração por cisalhamento, resistência à flexão e módulo de elasticidade.
