A baga da serendipidade (Dioscoreophyllum cumminsii (Stapf) Diels) é um fruto silvestre comummente encontrado na floresta tropical do sudoeste da Nigéria. Este fruto é subutilizado e é uma das culturas em risco de extinção na Nigéria. Contém uma quantidade significativa de um edulcorante proteico natural chamado 'monelina'. A semente contém uma grande quantidade de óleo constituído por ácidos gordos insaturados. O livro é composto por seis capítulos que abordam a ameaça de extinção da cultura, a domesticação, a propagação, os compostos voláteis do óleo e as composições químicas da farinha e do óleo da semente.
