Der Grad, in dem Fertigungsunternehmen sich an zuvor akzeptierte Standards zur Verbesserung der Produktkonformität halten, ist im Vergleich zu den anderen drei Beziehungen in dieser Studie am geringsten. Funktionales Benchmarking hat einen signifikanten Einfluss auf die Produktleistung, muss jedoch verbessert werden, da zwischen beiden eine moderate Beziehung besteht. Benchmarking in produzierenden Unternehmen wird letztendlich zu positiven Ergebnissen führen. Manager von produzierenden Unternehmen sollten die Praxis des Benchmarking und der kontinuierlichen Verbesserung intensivieren, um die Produktqualität zu steigern. Die Fehlerquote und die Produktverschlechterung können verbessert werden; das Management sollte mehr Mittel bereitstellen, um die Leistung der Wettbewerber in Bezug auf Best Practices und Best Processes zu kopieren, zu replizieren und zu übertreffen.
