Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Geschichte Europas - Mittelalter, Frühe Neuzeit, Note: 1,7, Universität Potsdam (Wirtschafts-und Sozialwissenschaftliche Fakultät), Veranstaltung: Die Europäische Union und Formen internationaler Organisation, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Arbeit stellt sich der Frage inwieweit das, was wir heute als Außenpolitik verstehen, in der vormodernen Epoche des Mittelalters existierte und welche Formen dabei Ausprägung fanden. Dabei dienen als Ausgangspunkt die Ausarbeitungen eines Referates zum Thema Mittelalter, dass im Rahmen dieses Seminars von mir gehalten wurde und die Grundüberlegungen innerhalb des Seminars über Formen von Staatlichkeit in den Kategorien Vormoderne, Moderne und Postmoderne.Ziel einer solchen Hausarbeit kann nur eine kurze überblickartige Darstellung des Themas sein, dass den Leser in Grundlegende Überlegungen einführt. Deshalb werde ich mich bei meinen Ausarbeitungen im Kern auf das Heilige Römische Reich beschränken. Dessen Beziehungen zu den Regionen, die nach heutigem Verständnis als Abendland bezeichnet werden, sollen im folgenden beschrieben und ein Vergleich zum heutigen Begriff der Außenpolitik hergestellt werden.Bei meiner Recherchearbeit stützte ich mich zwangsläufig auf Sekundärliteratur aus dem historisch-geschichtlichen Bereich. Dabei möchte ich anmerken, dass die Verwendung dieses Materials sich von der politikwissenschaftlichen Materials in Sprache, Vokabular und Vorraussetzungen an den Leser unterscheidet. Die Kombination dieser beiden Wissenschaftsströmungen stellt die Herausforderung bei der Annäherung an meine Fragestellung dar. Historisches Wissen, Kenntnis originärer Quellen und Vertrauen auf deren Übersetzung aus dem Mittelhochdeutschen bzw. Lateinischen wird auf Theoriemodelle der Politikwissenschaft angewandt.Deshalb möchte ich zu Beginn der Abhandlung Begriffe aus beiden Bereichen erläutern, um somit für den Leser eine gemeinsame Ausgangsposition zu schaffen.
