O Sudão, especialmente o Estado do Nilo Branco, é afetado pela deterioração das terras e pela crise ecológica. Isto exige um estudo de diagnóstico cuidadoso das questões relacionadas com os recursos naturais, juntamente com os sistemas praticados na utilização das potencialidades disponíveis. O estudo teve como objetivo investigar o conhecimento indígena e as ideias recentemente percebidas relativamente à gestão da cobertura vegetal e procurou melhores oportunidades para alcançar a sustentabilidade na utilização das potencialidades naturais disponíveis, tendo em conta as necessidades das gerações futuras.
