The Fungi who recycle all living organisms so that nutrients can be used in nature to continue the evolution of life on earth, includes energies generated by human beings during events of higher consciousness. This theoretical higher consciousness is what is traditionally associated with actions of the Soul of each person. Fungi recycling indicates the unrealized, intimate relationships that exist throughout all spheres of nature. Just as the theoretical Soul points in the direction of connection with more subtle spheres of existence, the process of recycling in Nature is powerful evidence that the spiritual concept of a Soul, and a human Soul, also has a very concrete aspect. Whether you believe in a God or not, Nature is totally committed to the inter-relationship between all life forms. Therefore, all actions, especially those of humans, have a much broader effect on all levels of existence than we may know or imagine about. And so the idea of a Soul, that evaluates what we do, in relation to evolution, gives meaning to life, beyond our individual desires and concerns. Ours is a time of much depression, always being reminded nothing seems to matter, but realizing that Nature may have many far reaching aims, some perhaps beyond our knowledge, or understanding, can act as a stimulus to appreciate life. This is what the book is about.
