Die Vorbereitungen fiir die Abfassung des zweiten Bandes haben schon bald gezeigt, daB es ohne EinbuBen an Stoffumfang und -vertiefung nicht moglich sein wiirde, den urspriinglichen Plan eines dreibandigen Gesamtwerkes zu realisieren. Ich habe mich daher entschlossen, die 'Arbeitsmethoden der Thermodynamik' in vier Bande von etwa gleichem Umfang zu gliedern und in Band III zusatzlich ein Kapitel iiber Arbeits- und Kalteprozesse aufzunehmen, das sowohl die Analyse der verschiedenen offenen und geschlossenen Kreisprozesse sowie die modernen Methoden der inneren Leistungs-und Wirkungsgradmessung als auch die aktuellen Probleme bei der Energiespeicherung enthalten wird.
